Why Your Nails Pop Off: The "Flat vs. Curved" Nail Bed Guide

You measured your width perfectly (16mm, check!). You prepped your cuticles. Yet, your press-on nail popped off in two hours, or worse—it felt like it was pinching your finger.
The culprit is likely not the size, but the Arch (C-Curve).
Just like shoes have high arches or flat soles, fingernails have different curvatures. At TsukiNails, our handmade sets are designed with a natural "C-Curve," but if your natural nails are very flat or extremely curved, you need a few custom tricks.

1. The "Eye Level" Test
How do you know your type?

  • Step 1: Hold your hand up at eye level and look down the "barrel" (the tip) of your finger.

  • Flat Nail Bed: Your nail looks like a flat line or a very gentle hill.

  • Curved (High Apex) Nail Bed: Your nail looks like a deep "U" shape or a rainbow arch.

2. Problem A: "My Nails Are Too Flat"
If you put a standard press-on over a flat nail, there is a gap in the middle. Air gets in, and the nail pops off.

  • The Hack: Build a Bridge.

    • Use Sticky Tabs: Adhesive tabs are thicker than glue. Layering a tab fills the empty space in the middle.

    • The "Double Glue" Method: Apply a drop of glue to your natural nail AND a drop to the center of the press-on. Let it get tacky for 5 seconds before pressing. This creates a cushion.

3. Problem B: "My Nails Are Too Curved" (or the Press-On is too curved)
If the press-on is curvier than your natural nail, it will force your nail to flatten, causing pain or "pinching" at the sides.

  • The Hack: The Hot Water Reshape.
TsukiNails are made of high-quality gel, which is slightly malleable with heat.

    1. Boil a cup of water and let it sit for a minute.

    2. Dip the press-on nail (not your finger) into the hot water for 10-15 seconds.

    3. Remove it (carefully!) and gently press it down on a hard surface to flatten the arch.

    4. Hold it until it cools. It will now hold a flatter shape to match your hand!

4. Why Handmade Matters
Factory-made ABS plastic nails are rigid and stiff. TsukiNails are handcrafted with real gel layers. This structure allows for more flexibility, meaning they mold to your natural nail shape much better than the cheap drugstore options.

Conclusion
No two hands are identical. By understanding your curve, you can customize your TsukiNails for a fit that feels like it was sculpted just for you.
