DIY Studio: How to Customize Your Press-On Nails with Polish & Charms
Introduction
You bought a beautiful TsukiNails set, but today you’re feeling extra creative. Maybe you want to add a little heart sticker for date night, or perhaps you want to top a matte set with a glossy coat.
We often get asked: "Can I paint over my press-ons?"
The answer is YES!
One of the best things about high-quality handmade gel nails is that they act as a perfect canvas. Here is how to be your own nail artist without ruining your set.
1. Adding Nail Polish: Regular vs. Gel
-
Regular Polish: Safe to use! You can paint over your press-ons with regular air-dry polish.
-
The Catch: Do not use acetone to remove it. Acetone will melt the press-on nail underneath. If you paint them, it’s a permanent change unless you use a specialized "acetone-free" remover.
-
-
Gel Polish: Also safe, but requires a UV lamp. Since TsukiNails are already made of gel, the new layer will bond perfectly.
2. Adding Stickers and Decals
This is the easiest way to upgrade a Solid Color set.
-
Step 1: Wipe the press-on nail with alcohol to remove fingerprints.
-
Step 2: Use tweezers to place your sticker (stars, hearts, flowers).
-
Step 3: Crucial Step—You must seal it. Apply a layer of clear top coat (regular or gel) over the sticker. Without this, the sticker will peel off in hours.

3. Adding Charms & Rhinestones
Want to add some bling to a plain set?
-
The Glue: Do not use the nail glue meant for your fingers (it’s too runny). Use a thick Gem Gel or a tiny dot of Super Glue.
-
Placement: Rough up the spot slightly with a buffer before gluing the gem for better grip.
4. Changing the Finish: Matte vs. Glossy
Did you buy a Matte set but now you want it Glossy?
-
The Hack: Simply apply a layer of High-Gloss Top Coat. The matte texture underneath actually helps the top coat stick better!
-
Reverse: You can also turn a Glossy set into Matte with a Matte Top Coat. It’s like getting two sets for the price of one.

Conclusion
Don't be afraid to experiment. Whether you are adding a simple sticker or a full coat of glitter, customizing your TsukiNails is the perfect way to express your unique style.
